2016 Bronze Award Winner, 2015 Gold Award Winner & 2014 Silver Award Winner-Best Photographer Smith Mountain Lake
Who is Heather Turner?
If you are visiting my site its more than likely because you have seen my work and are curious as to who I am, my photographic style, and why you should hire me. So, who is Heather Turner? I grew up with a photographer grandfather who taught me how to shoot using a film camera. He graciously purchased my first Minolta camera and opened my eyes to the world of photography. If he were alive today he would be astounded by the world of digital photography.
I graduated from Virginia Tech in 2003 with a degree in Clothing & Textiles. I currently live at Smith Mountain Lake, VA and spend my time traveling and shooting across the US. I love to travel. In 2015, I was voted the Gold Award and in 2014 the Silver Award for Best Photographer at Smith Mountain Lake. Awards I'm proud to share!
Just a few arbitrary things about me: I don't like milk. Or bread. I know, I'm weird. I do like sweets. Especially cupcakes. My favorite flower is hydrangea. I love to decorate and re-decorate. I'm obsessed with organizing. Best of all-I love my job.
All of my life experiences and travels have influenced my photographic style over the years. Don’t get me wrong, I love posed photography, however, I love to capture the moments that are often forgotten. Simple moments like sisters telling each other a secret, a father and son holding hands, a mother gazing into her child’s eyes, a bride and groom meeting eyes for the first time while walking down the aisle; moments that are often taken for granted. I love being able to create a representation of who a family is at that one moment in time, immortalized forever in the "perfect family photo."
